The route in, step by step
6 steps from where you are now.
Class 8 or above, and be physically fit Required
PSARA sets minimum age, height and fitness standards. Ex-servicemen are actively preferred and are exempt from parts of the training.
Train at a state-approved security training institute Required
The Private Security Agencies Regulation Act requires training from an approved institute covering the prescribed syllabus and hours. An agency that offers to skip this is not operating lawfully.
Complete police verification Required
Mandatory before deployment. Keep the documents, because you will be asked for them at every change of employer.
Work with a licensed agency Required
Check the agency holds a PSARA licence for your state. Licensed agencies pay minimum wages with PF and ESI; unlicensed ones frequently do neither.
Add specialist skills Required
Fire safety and first aid, CCTV and access control operation, or industrial security. Each moves you off the gate and onto better-paid posts.
Supervisor, then security officer Optional
Shift supervisor, then assistant security officer. A graduate degree opens corporate security roles, which are a different level of work entirely.

These are ranges, not offers. Pay varies by city, employer size, sector and your own skill more than by job title. Treat the band as the shape of the market, not as a number you can hold anyone to.
