The route in, step by step
6 steps from where you are now.
Class 12 Required
This is a customer-facing role, so communication matters as much as the technical base.
Diploma in Automobile Engineering, or an ITI plus workshop experience Required
Three years for the diploma. Many advisors are promoted technicians, which is the stronger route - you cannot advise on a repair you do not understand.
Work in the workshop first Required
A year or two on the floor. Advisors who have never turned a spanner get caught out by customers and by their own technicians.
Complete dealership advisor training Required
Manufacturer training on the service process, estimation, warranty policy and the dealer management system.
Handle customers and job cards Required
Reception, diagnosis explanation, estimation, approvals and delivery. You sit between a customer who does not want to spend and a workshop with targets, and managing that honestly is the whole skill.
Service manager Optional
Running the service department - throughput, customer satisfaction scores, parts and the technician team.

What it pays
Indicative bands.
| Stage | Pay band | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Any experience | ₹12,000 – ₹22,000 / monthly | Varies by employer |
These are ranges, not offers. Pay varies by city, employer size, sector and your own skill more than by job title. Treat the band as the shape of the market, not as a number you can hold anyone to.
