Work in a design office Required
Detailing, standard part selection, bills of material and drawing revisions, under a senior designer. You learn the house standards first.
Take on full tool design Required
Designing a die or mould from the component drawing - strip layout, cavity layout, cooling, ejection. Your design is proved right or wrong at try-out.
Tool designer, or move to simulation Optional
Senior tool designer, or mould flow and forming simulation, which is a specialism in its own right.
