05 · What you learn

What you learn

Across four years, you study mechanical, electronics, control and software engineering for robotics and automation work.

StageCore contentAlongside it
Throughout Mechanical systems, electronics, control systems and software engineering, brought together for mechatronics, robotics and automation. Programming practice and work linked to industrial and warehouse automation.

Ask before you enrol. How many scheduled lab hours each week will you get for programming, electronics, control systems and mechanical assembly, and what robotics equipment will students use themselves?

06 · Who it suits

Who it suits

This course suits you if you want a four-year engineering degree that combines machines, electronics, control systems and programming.

  • You have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths, or will meet this requirement.
  • You are ready for JEE Main, a State CET or a university entrance test, depending on the college.
  • You want to work on industrial automation, manufacturing plants, automotive automation or warehouse robots.
  • You are willing to build real programming skills alongside mechanical and electronics subjects.
  • You can study full-time on campus and attend laboratory training for four years.
  • It does not suit you if you want a distance or online degree, or want to avoid programming.
07 · Cost

What it will actually cost you

For the full four-year course, fees usually range from Rs 1,00,000 - 6,00,000 in government or state institutions, Rs 6,00,000 - 10,00,000 in IITs and NITs, and Rs 4,00,000 - 25,00,000 in private institutions.

08 · Certifications

Certifications that change what you earn

The source data lists one post-course statutory registration. It applies only in states where the relevant council has been constituted.

CertificationWhat it provesWhat it changes
Registration with the State Allied and Healthcare Council under NCAHP You are registered under the state allied and healthcare council system after the degree, where that council exists. Provides the stated licence to practise in states with a constituted council.
09 · Earnings

What it pays, and what changes it

In India, B.Tech Mechatronics and Robotics graduates usually start at ₹25,000 to ₹55,000 a month. Strong programming skills matter a lot for better roles in automation and robotics.

India

Pay differs by city, employer and your ability to work with software, controls and automation systems.

StageMonthlyWhat it depends on
Entry level ₹25,000 - ₹55,000 Graduate roles in industrial automation, manufacturing, robotics or warehouse automation.
Early career ₹40,000 - ₹70,000 A few years of work in automation, controls, robotics integration or manufacturing systems.
Experienced ₹60,000 - ₹1,00,000 Experience in a specialised automation or robotics role, with strong programming and control-system work.

10 · The honest part

The honest part

Mechatronics is not a shortcut to a robotics job. You will study mechanical systems, electronics, control theory and software together. The workload is broad, and programming often separates students in placements. Labs and projects need time outside lectures. Fees vary sharply, from about ₹1 lakh to ₹25 lakh for the full degree depending on the institution. Entry-level pay also varies, with an indicative range of ₹25,000 to ₹55,000 a month.

The course fits work in industrial automation, manufacturing plants, automotive automation and warehouse automation. It gives you a base for roles where machines, sensors, controllers and code meet. You can also move towards M.Tech programmes, industrial automation certification or an MS after graduation. Growth in automation creates work, but employers still look for proof that you can solve a real technical problem.

Students who do well build things, not only notes for exams. They write and debug code, work with sensors and controllers, and explain their project choices clearly. They use internships or project work to show one finished system, such as a small automated conveyor or a sensor-based robotic arm. They also keep their maths and core engineering basics strong, because automation roles test both theory and practical judgement.
