Understand the exam
Exam overview
TG EAPCET is Telangana's common entrance test for admission to engineering, agriculture and pharmacy degree programmes across the state's colleges, conducted by the Telangana Council of Higher Education.
Note the portal change. The examination site is eapcet.tgche.ac.in. It moved there when the state council was renamed, and older links pointing at the previous tsche.ac.in address may not resolve. Several coaching sites still list the old one.
What it covers. Two streams. Engineering is taken with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Agriculture and medical is taken with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and leads into agriculture, pharmacy, veterinary and allied programmes. Class 12 with the relevant subject combination is the requirement.
Local candidate rules matter here more than the exam does. Eligibility for state quota seats depends on where you studied rather than only where you live, and the rules are specific about how many years of schooling must have been completed in the state. Families who have moved between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are caught out by this every year. Read the local candidate clause in the current notification before you assume you qualify.
Andhra Pradesh runs a separate exam. AP EAPCET has its own portal, notification and counselling. The two share a name and a history because they were one examination before the states separated, but they are not interchangeable and applying to the wrong one costs a year.
