Qualifying for eligibility is common; qualifying for the fellowship is much harder.

What is the difference between qualifying for Assistant Professor and for JRF?
One examination produces both outcomes at different thresholds. Qualifying for Assistant Professor eligibility is substantially more achievable; the Junior Research Fellowship requires a considerably higher score and funds doctoral study.
Is Paper I worth serious preparation?
Yes, and neglecting it is a common way strong subject candidates fall short. It is entirely learnable - teaching aptitude, research method, reasoning, comprehension and data interpretation - and it is the most reliably scoring part of the examination.
Can I sit it in a subject different from my master's?
Generally the subject must relate to your postgraduate degree, and rules on closely related subjects vary. Check the current bulletin against your specific degree before choosing a subject, as this is a common reason applications are rejected.
Do I need NET if I already have a PhD?
Requirements have changed more than once and differ between institutions and states. Because this is genuinely a moving position, verify the current University Grants Commission regulations rather than relying on what applied when someone else was recruited.
