Who it suits

This course suits you if you want practical farming skills within three months to one year, especially for your own farm or a small agri-business.

  • You have passed Class 10 and want to study locally through a Krishi Vigyan Kendra or state agricultural university.
  • You already farm with your family, or you want to improve crop production, input use and farm management on your own land.
  • You want to start an input dealership, farm service activity or other agri-enterprise.
  • You prefer field-based learning over a long academic course before entering work.
  • You may later want to move into a Diploma in Agriculture or B.Sc Agriculture.
  • It does not suit you if you want a degree-level agriculture qualification straight away.

10 · The honest part

The honest part

A certificate from a Krishi Vigyan Kendra is short, but farm work is not. Crop decisions depend on season, weather, water, local soil and timely labour. Entry-level roles linked to this course often start around ₹9,000 to ₹18,000 a month. Some work may be with input dealers, FPOs or local projects rather than a permanent payroll job. Fees also differ sharply, from about ₹50,000 at some state agricultural universities to much higher private fees.

The training has a practical use if you want to improve your own farm or start a small input or farm-service enterprise. You learn crop production, input use and farm management close to local farming conditions. Direct enrolment through KVKs and state agricultural universities also avoids a long entrance-exam route. No licence is required to work after the certificate.

People who gain the most usually treat the course as field training, not only a certificate. They keep crop records, compare input costs with returns, speak to farmers and local buyers, and test what works on a small plot first. They also build towards a Diploma in Agriculture or B.Sc Agriculture if they want wider job options.
