StageCore contentAlongside it
Throughout the 1-year course Computer assembly, fault finding, troubleshooting and repair, plus basic LAN setup. Practical work at the ITI; some ITIs run the trade under the Dual System of Training with an industry partner.

Ask before you enrol. How many hours each week will I spend assembling and repairing computers, and will I practise basic LAN setup on working equipment?

06 · Who it suits

Who it suits

This ITI course suits you if you want to enter computer hardware support after Class 10 and are ready for hands-on repair work.

  • You have passed Class 10 with Science and Maths.
  • You want to spend one year learning computer assembly, fault finding, repair and basic LAN setup.
  • You prefer a full-time ITI route and may apply through your state ITI merit list or the DGT admission portal.
  • You are comfortable starting in roles such as IT helpdesk, desktop support or field service.
  • You plan to add a vendor certificate such as CompTIA A+/Network+ or CCNA, since employers screen for these beyond the trade certificate.
  • It does not suit you if you only want software coding work and do not want to handle computer hardware faults.
07 · Cost

What it will actually cost you

For this one-year ITI course, the main cost is the total ITI fee, which is much lower in a government seat than in a private ITI.

Line itemTypicalWorth knowing
Government ITI fee Rs 3,000 - 15,000 total This is the indicative total course fee for the full 12-month trade.
Private ITI fee Rs 25,000 - 90,000 total This is the indicative total course fee for the full 12-month trade.

Government ITIs may offer fee concessions for reserved-category students under state rules. Check the state ITI admission portal or institute notice before paying, including its refund rules if you withdraw after admission.

Indicative ranges, not quotations. Confirm the current fee with the institution before you pay anything.

08 · Certifications

Certifications that change what you earn

After the ITI, employers often use assessed vendor certifications to shortlist you for desktop support and network roles.

CertificationWhat it provesWhat it changes
CompTIA A+ You can troubleshoot PC hardware, operating systems, basic networking and common support issues. Helps you qualify for entry-level IT helpdesk and desktop support screening.
CompTIA Network+ You understand network devices, IP addressing, network troubleshooting and basic network security. Strengthens your profile for network support and field service work.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) You can set up, configure and troubleshoot routed and switched networks at an associate level. Opens more network-focused support roles than a hardware-only trade certificate.
09 · Earnings

What it pays, and what changes it

In India, entry-level pay is usually ₹11,000 to ₹20,000 a month. Vendor certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+ or CCNA matter when you apply for better support and networking roles.

India

Pay is higher in corporate IT helpdesks, managed service providers and hardware vendor support roles when you have relevant vendor certifications.

StageMonthlyWhat it depends on
Entry-level hardware or helpdesk support ₹11,000–₹20,000 After ITI, in desktop support, field service or IT helpdesk work.

Indicative bands for 2026, not measured salary data. What people actually earn varies by employer, state and sector.

10 · The honest part

The honest part

The ITI certificate alone may not get you shortlisted for every support job. Employers often look for vendor certifications as well. Starting pay is commonly around ₹11,000 to ₹20,000 a month, so compare it carefully with your fee and travel cost. Government ITIs cost about ₹3,000 to ₹15,000 in total, while private ITIs may cost ₹25,000 to ₹90,000.

This route suits you if you prefer finding faults, replacing parts and setting up basic LAN connections over only studying theory. It takes one year after Class 10, and can lead to helpdesk, desktop support or field service work. You do not need a licence to practise. A government ITI seat through the state merit process also keeps the training cost lower.

Students who do well usually practise until they can assemble a computer, trace a hardware fault and explain a basic network setup without reading notes. They add a recognised certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+ or CCNA after the trade certificate. They also keep learning, then move towards a Diploma in Computer Engineering or BCA if they want wider technical roles.
