Management admission examination accepted by participating institutions under individual rules.
Who can appear
Eligibility to appear
A recognised bachelor degree meeting the target management program's conditions. NMAT test registration does not establish institution eligibility. Verify each score-accepting school's degree, marks and attempt policy.
Eligibility to appear is not the same as eligibility to be admitted. Individual institutions add their own criteria on top of the exam's rules.
Overview
What this exam is
A management admission test administered by GMAC and accepted by a group of participating business schools. Its distinguishing feature is that candidates may sit it more than once within the testing window and use the best score.
Subjects
What the paper tests
Language skills, quantitative skills with data interpretation, and logical reasoning. Each section is individually timed and you choose the order in which you take them. The questions are not exceptionally hard but the time per question is tight.
PreparationPlan
How to prepare
Speed is the constraint rather than difficulty, so train for pace and for finishing sections rather than for hard problems. Use the multiple-attempt provision deliberately - book the first sitting early enough to leave room for another. Sectional cut-offs mean a weak area cannot be compensated for by a strong one, so shore up your weakest section rather than polishing your best.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I really take it more than once?
Yes, within the testing window, and the best score is considered. This is its most useful feature and it should shape your plan - book the first attempt early enough to leave room for another.
What is the main difficulty?
Time, not difficulty. Each section is individually timed and the questions are not exceptionally hard, so training for pace and for finishing sections matters more than working through harder problems.
Do sectional cut-offs matter?
Yes, and they change how you should prepare. A strong section cannot compensate for a weak one, so time spent shoring up your weakest area is worth more than polishing your best.
Which schools accept NMAT?
A defined group of participating business schools, each with its own eligibility and selection process. The test score is one input; verify each school's degree, marks and selection requirements separately.
