A BFM takes three years on campus, and you will need to stay comfortable with numbers throughout. Some colleges require or prefer Mathematics, Accountancy or Economics in Class 12. The course links to finance and investment careers, but the degree itself does not promise work as an investment banking analyst or financial analyst.

It gives you a focused undergraduate route if financial markets interest you more than a broad commerce degree. After BFM, you can also move towards a Master of Commerce. That said, check each college’s Class 12 subject rules before placing it high in your application list.

Students who do well usually take the quantitative side seriously from the start. They do not treat Mathematics, Accountancy or Economics as subjects to clear only for admission. They build a clear base in the parts they find difficult, keep their academic record steady for three years, and compare their next step early, including M.Com options.
